Welcome to the age of Queen Victoria. Here you’ll experience what life was like when Britain ruled the world. Meet some (almost) real Victorians in their authentic shops and cottages, buy curious goods from a bygone era and watch tradespeople in action in their atmospheric workshops and factories.

VISITOR INFORMATION: The Incline Lift is undergoing significant repairs and is currently unavailable. Please talk to our on-site colleagues to arrange access to the Lower Town if needed.

We've created an amazing family attraction in the woodlands at Blists Hill Victorian Town. The Madeley Wood Company Outdoor Adventure, named after the company that historically ran mine operations on the site, is Shropshire's hottest open-air adventure space.

The Outdoor Adventure features elevated walks above the woodland floor, a log-style basket swing, seesaw and lookout tower with a coal chute slide. Built among trees and inspired by the area’s rich mining past, the Outdoor Adventure also features wheelchair-accessible multi-level themed buildings, immersive play areas and a toddler zone with a faux mine-cart track, play buildings, a slide and miniature zip-line.

Families can get refreshments from our food and drink kiosk with a covered seating area.

Admission to the Madeley Wood Company Outdoor Adventure is included in our popular Annual Pass meaning families can come back again and again for 12 months!

Is there a cashpoint?

You can withdraw money from our free-to-use cash machine, inside the Entrance Building or from the Co-op in Ironbridge.

Can I bring my dog?

We love to see dogs at Blists Hill Victorian Town. They’re welcome to visit with you so long as they’re kept on their leads. Sadly, we can’t let them inside any exhibits with food or our eating places.

How long will my visit last?

We suggest a visit to Blists Hill Victorian Town will take at least 3 hours.

Is there anything for kids to do?

Children love Blists Hill Victorian Town, especially the amazing Madeley Wood Co Outdoor Adventure. There is plenty of space for them to run around, animals for them to see, sweets to buy and in the summer they can join in all the fun of the Victorian Fair.

Many of the exhibits have special interactive objects that younger visitors can experiment with, such as the Morse Code Machine.

During the school holidays there are great family friendly activities and drop-in workshops. Every day during our main summer season children love meeting the animals, getting stuck in at the fairground and taking a ride on the horse & carriage.

Is the Museum suitable for visitors with disabilities?

Blists Hill Victorian Town has good accessibility for all visitors
There is a lift in the main entrance building
Ramps and dropped curbs are used in the Town
There is an accessible toilet on site
Due to the nature of these historic buildings some areas are not accessible for visitors with limited mobility
There is a steep hill in the middle of the site
An Incline Lift connects the top and bottom of the town
Alternatively ask on arrival to use the bottom gate to exit

The New Inn Pub

A fully licensed period pub serving a range of beers, spirits and soft drinks. Open daily from 11am until 4pm.

Forest Glen Refreshment Pavilion

Enjoy refreshments including 'chefs meal of the day', cakes and hot & cold drinks. Ice creams served here too. Open daily, during the main season, from 11.30am until 3.30pm.
